Tracks 2 and 3 are often wrongly called "Baldogg" and "Balgalderkvad" (replacing the capital V with a capital B) because of the font used on the backside of the CD.

Mellom Skogkledde Aaser, rich in the sheer infectiousness of honest and simple melodic overtones, exemplifies rustic “Pagan Metal” ideology at its very best. Yet it comes as no surprise that the record itself, and, so, the legacy of Kampfar, begins with something as brash as a barrage of vile shrieks.

Kampfar's first full-length album, Mellom Skogkledde Aaser is an oddly musical slab of frosty Norwegian black metal, full of the prerequisite evil-troll vocal rasping, but also featuring memorable guitar riffs (augmented by Emperor-like synths) and goth-sounding backup vocals. None of the lyrics are in English, but that doesn't really alter the listening experience much.8/
